Island View Restaurant

I had the seafood chowder and fried clams (all clams!). Everything was delicious. The seafood chowder was yummy but the clams were the best fried clams I've ever had. They were delicious. The only bad thing was the roll that came with the chowder wasn't fresh, which is a shame because they have a bakery right there. I definitely recommend trying it. It's a beautiful spot and the staff are amazing.

Place was hopping but we were shown to our seats within 5 minutes. The lobster club sandwich was REALLY good, such a step up from a lobster roll with just some mayo and coleslaw. I never knew bacon would go well with lobster but here we are. Think I ate about three pieces of bread total, but I didn't even realize until I was finished because it was that good. Nice thick bits of lobster. My parents got the fish and chips and I had a bite (or two) and can confirm that it was hot and fresh. Island view definitely knows their seafood. On top of that, they have a lovely view of the ocean (and some seagulls). P.S. their haystack cookies (the coconut ones with the cherries) were AMAZING.

My family was looking for places to have dinner and a person at the resort we were staying at recommended this place to us, out of all the food we had on this trip it was the best and most affordable from all the places we went to! Atmosphere was beautiful as the windows have a perfect view of the water and the different islands and the time we were there we could see the sun slowly setting, absolutely beautiful. The staff was extremely friendly and nice and funny too! The first time we went we dined in and we went back the next day and had take out instead and it was just as good! I recommend if your not a seafood lover (like me) the hamburger with fries and gravy, 5 stars!

Wonderful staff, very friendly, seems like a family run place. Food is amazing, seafood platter was shared by two. Fish cake was excellent. Must try. Beautiful view.

We stopped here for lunch on our way to Lunenberg. A great stop on a scenic drive if you are looking for home cooking, east coast style. We shared a lobster club & a hearty bowl of seafood chowder. My son had the cheeseburger fries, which if I remember correctly, was a very reasonable 13. The place is a popular ice cream stop for locals & doubles as a bakery, offering pies & cakes.

Great little restaurant by the ocean. You can see Oak Island, and when they are on the island, you can see activity there. The fish and chips was very good. They have battered or breaded, I had the battered, which was a good batter, not too heavy, and the portion was huge. I will go back.

Unlike Mark H’s review, we had a FANTASTIC dinner here. The chicken wings app was so delicious: the batter/breading, and the sauce—that mild sauce was better than any other sauce I have had (for people who cannot handle spicy, it is maybe just shy of medium). I had the scallop burger special with potato salad, and it was honestly close to what my Nana made. Yum. My other friends at the table had great food too (deep fried muscles, marinated shrimp, and sone soup thing I cannot remember. But what I can remember is the delicious homemade buns, which were delicious. And then there was the delicious strawberry rhubarb pie—it was to die for. My stomach may be bigger, but it was worth it. Our server Candice was super-amazing, friendly, accommodating, and all-round just a great person/server. I quipped that she deserved a raise while I was playing the bill (so owners, take note!). Lastly, the menu choices offered enough selection that I would go back again (and again and again). I can see why Island View was so busy! Sadly I am not sure I will ever be back, as we are visited from Ontario—but by gum, I would say this place has offered exactly what I was hoping to see/experience in a Nova Scotian restaurant (oh and the view is beautiful too). A true hidden gem for real food lovers! The traditional dishes are absolutely incredible—authentic, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Their desserts are just as impressive, and the staff? Genuinely some of the warmest and most attentive people you’ll meet. An unforgettable dining experience from start to finish.
